F1 Malaysian Grand Prix 2009

f1

Last week’s Australian GP was a marvelous start to the season. Brawn GP’s Jenson Button finishing first and Rubens Barrichello taking the second place, bringing their constructors to 18 points in the very first race, and Hamilton who was positioned in the bottom of the grid after qualifying took the third place.

All eyes were on the new Brawn GP team making their debut there. Big names like Felipe Massa, Kimi Raikkonen, Heikki Kovalainen get zero points while guys like Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello who struggled throughout the last season went on the podium.

Jarno Trulli from Toyota who finished third had to give away his position to Lewis Hamilton. The race stewards ruled that Trulli illegally overtook Lewis Hamilton while the safety car was on the track in the last five laps. Relegating Trulli to 12th position and elevating reigning world champion Hamilton from fourth place to third.

Force India gets the best result so far. Adrian Sutil finished ninth and Giancarlo Fisichellla took the eleventh position. Even though they very narrowly failed to get points for themselves or the team, they performed extremely well.

The accident that happened when Kubica was trying to overtake Vettel when they were on 3nd and 2rd positions respectively during the 3rd last lap threw both the drivers out of the race. It was difficult to say who was at fault but Vettel has been given a ten place grid penalty for the Malaysian grand prix.

The Malaysian Grand Prix will be very interesting after all those actions and surprises in Melbourne.

Kimi , Kubica and Kovalainen had taken the podium in the last season. Massa was in the pole position when the race started but in the 32nd lap he spun out of the track losing control.
