Helio Castroneves won his third Indy 500 this past weekend, and the 15th win for Team Penske. The polesitter lead the final 59 laps to take the victory over second placed Dan Wheldon driving for Panther Racing, and third placed Danica Patrick for Andretti Green Racing.
Castroneves joins five other drivers to have won the most prestigious US open-wheel event three times — while only AJ Foyt, Al Unser Sr. and Rick Mears have won the event four times.
Much was made in the press of Castroneves win, as the Brazilian driver was questionable to take part this year before being acquitted of federal tax evasion charges last month.
